Christmas storms and sunshine is an interesting novel written by Elizabeth Gaskell. Elizabeth Cleghorn Gaskell, often referred to as Mrs Gaskell, was an English novelist, biographer, and short story writer. Her novels offer a detailed portrait of the lives of many strata of Victorian society, including the very poor. Her first novel, Mary Barton, was published in 1848 and it was inspired by the death of her only son. Gaskell was born on September 29 1810 in Lindsey Row, Chelsea, London. She was the youngest of eight children and unfortunately dies on December 1865. Now to continue with the essay it is important for all of us to know what the values of commitment and citizenship mean since we are going to relate them to the story while doing a little summary of the story. Commitment is something that you must do or deal with that takes your time. Citizenship is the position or status of being a citizen of a particular country. In the story “The lady of Shallot”, there is the presence of two values in the character traits of the lady of shallot and sir Lancelot. We could view those values in those two characters. Before continuing on with the essay it is important for us to know the meaning of the values mentioned before. When we say the word patience, we mean the ability to endure difficult circumstances and stay calm. It is also the ability to tolerate, accept or delay problems. Caring is when you are kind or are concerned about someone or something. It is when you feel or show worry as well. In this interesting sorry i read, i could notice that the character of the lady of shallot has the value if patience throughout a long while of the story but comes to a point where she loses it. And i did not presence the value of care in her, it was the opposite. And in sir Lancelot, i presence the value of caring for a moment at the end of the story. A MODEST PROPOSAL The story called “A modest proposal”, in my opinion has no relation with the values of fairness and justice. Before getting into the reasons that will support my idea, it is important to have the meaning of these two important values clear for our knowledge. Fairness is an impartial and just treatment or behaviour without favouritism or discrimination. It is the quality of being reasonable, right and just. When i listen to the word “fairness” i immediately think of equality, it just pops in my mind. It is not to choose someone over the other for selfish reasons. While Justice is the condition of being morally correct or right, it is fairness in the way people are treated or dealt with. These two values, as you can see, are very similar. The reasons of why i believe that there are none of these two values in the story is because the proposal that Jonathan Swift made is unfair. The definition of these two values should be left clear before getting to the point and these two important values that makes part of some of the characters traits would be, thankfulness and trustworthiness. The definition of the important word “thankfulness”, or gratefulness, is a feeling of appreciation or a similar positive response shown by the recipient of kindness, gifts, help, favors, or other types of generosity towards the giver. The frozomalt Once upon a time in the streets of Barranquilla there was a little kid that loved to play football with his friends. Every day he used to play with them and after the game they went to the house of a women who sold the best ice creams in Barranquilla. Anyone knew how this women made this ice creams.
